About the Therapists in the Office

BodyWorks Massage, LLC was founded in 2005 by Becca. In order to best serve the community, Becca recognized she couldn't meet the demands on her schedule, so she has rented space to other massage therapists.

All of the massage therapists are:

• Licensed to practice in the state of Connecticut

• Nationally certified to practice massage by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and BodyWork (NCBTMB)

• Members of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA)

Becca Torns-Barker

Becca is the owner of BodyWorks Massage. After a successful career as a technical writer, Becca became tired of deadlines and the corporate environment. Massage was one of the only techniques that relieved her stress and made her feel centered. Wanting to learn more, she decided to change careers and enter the massage therapy profession. She has been a massage therapist since 2005, and she has completed the following programs:

• Bancroft School of Massage Therapy, Professional Massage Therapist program, 850 hours, 2005

• University of Connecticut, BA in English, 1994

• The Massage Therapists Role in Detecting Skin Cancer, May 2011, by The World Skin Project

• Massage Cupping, received her Level 1 certification in 2009

• MotherMassage, received her prenatal/postpartum massage certification in 2005

• Biotone Spa, received her spa treatments certification in 2007

• Reiki 1 and 2, received her attunements in 2005 and 2007

Kim Midford

After being outsourced, Kim decided it was time for a new career. Serendipity lead her to consider massage therapy and in 2007, she graduated from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy feeling she had made the best decision of her life.

Kim loves working with people who have chronic medical conditions, feeling that bodywork complements their traditional medical therapy and improves their overall health and sense of well being. Kim has completed the following coursework:

• Acusage Academy's Reflexology program, 2011
• Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy, Massage Therapy program, 2008
• Reiki 1 attunement in 2006

Kristin Smith

Kristin is new to the state of Connecticut and excited about beginning a massage therapy practice in addition to raising her two young children. Kristin graduated from the 650-hour massage therapy program at the Deep Muscle Therapy School (now the Harris School) in Delaware in 2007.
